Mission Statement and Board Members
Mission Statement:
The Mission Dolores Neighborhood Association (MDNA) was founded and exists to help facilitate completion of the historic survey work of the Mission Dolores Neighborhood, San Francisco, CA, and then have appropriate areas registered as official historic districts. There will be one large district, with additional smaller districts. The findings will follow CEQA (California Environmental Quality Act) guidelines.

After this work is completed, we plan to help preserve this outstanding neighborhood for generations to come. Yet while we’re primarily a preservation organization, we also work diligently to oversee land use development in the area. In doing so, we're not against quality new construction and design, as long as architecturally significant buildings are not demolished in the process.

In addition, we work closely with our sister organization, Safe Clean Green: Mission Dolores, which focuses primarily on quality of life issues, yet strongly supports our preservation goals. We also proudly support our ethnic, cultural and economic diversity.

Our neighborhood is bounded by Valencia Street on the east, Sanchez Street to 18th Street and Church Street to 20th Street on the west, 20th Street on the south, and Market Street and the Central Freeway on the north. Also included are properties along the west side of Church between 18th and 20th Streets and the south side of 20th Street between Church and Dolores Streets. Please refer to the Mission Dolores Historic Context Statement, unanimously adopted by the San Francisco Landmarks Advisory Board on September 19, 2007. This document can be viewed by going to the San Francisco Planning Department's web site or under Documents on this web site.

The Mission Dolores Neighborhood is a sub-area of the Inner Mission. Mission Dolores Parish is the namesake of our neighborhood, as well as the broader Mission District.
Good News:
March 17, 2010 - The San Francisco Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) unanimously adopted Carey & Company’s Mission Dolores Neighborhood Historic Survey and Final Historic Context Statement. In their outstanding work, Carey & Company doubled the size of our previously adopted draft historic context statement and identified a large Mission Dolores Survivor's Historic District between Dolores and Sanchez Streets.
